Today, 17 April 2009, the electricity was turned back on at the Ruebelandbahn, after a number of years out of use, due to environmental campaigning. A multi-million pound renovation of the electrical system was paid for by the regional government and the Goslar-based quarry which exports several million tonnes of stone products from their site on the line annually. At the time of the photo, this train of mixed old and new livery carriages, was returning from Koenigshuette, rather than Elbingerode, where the service was pruned back to subsequently.
