English: A rubbing of the Dilitu map ("Geographical Map", as opposed to Astronomical Charts) of China using a 100 li by 100 li grid, preserved on a stella at the Museum of Engraved Stone Tablets at the Confucian Temple at Suzhou. Originally drafted by Huang Shang c. 1190 and presented with other maps and astronomical charts to the Guangzong or Ningzong Emperor of the Song in 1194. Engraved on stone by Wang Zhiyuan in c. 1247, mistakenly using 墜 as a variant character for 墬. Roughly 3¾ × 3¼ feet. |
