Founders of the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad, oil painting by Francis Blackwell Mayer. The original is was formerly hung in the B&O Railroad headquarters and then the headquarters of CSX Transportation in Jacksonville, Florida (U.S.). Today the painting is part of the B&O Railroad Museum's collection in Baltimore, Maryland and is on display. The painting represents the history of the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad (B&O) beginning with its founding in 1827 to 1880 (left to right). B&O's president in 1880, John W. Garrett, is seated at right. |
