摩托车的安全问题主要在于在摩托车本身及其配件的设计等各方面,以及其操控技巧及训练的各种问题。 与一般轿车比较,摩托车缺乏车厢的保护,安全性较低,因此常被戏称为“肉包铁”或“皮包铁”。相对地,轿车则被称为“铁包肉”或“铁包皮”[1]。这不单单是猜测,而是美国根据实际统计数字支持,摩托车的意外率比一般汽车为高。
意外率
[编辑]根据美国的国家高速公路交通安全管理局(NHTSA)在2006年的统计数字,每10万辆汽车里,有13.10辆最终会涉及致命的碰撞;但对于摩托车,同等的统计数值却是72.34辆[2]。另一方面,若比较平均行车里数的致命意外比率,摩托车的数值也同样比私家车远远为高,是私家车的35倍[2]。 究其主要事故原因,多为超速、酒后驾驶等异常驾驶行为。
在英国,根据其运输部于2004年的统计数字,若按每亿行车里数的严重意外比率的数字比较,摩托车的意外率是私家车的16倍,单车的两倍[3]。
在中国,单单是广东省,省内交通意外就有七成与摩托车相关[4]。
