實驗搖滾（英語：Experimental rock），又稱先鋒搖滾（Avant-rock）是搖滾樂的一種亞流派，[3]它突破了常見作曲和傳統演奏技巧的界限，或對搖滾樂的基本元素進行實驗。[12]音樂家們以解放和創新為目標，該流派的一些顯著特點包括即興演奏、前衛影響、使用奇特的樂器、晦澀的歌詞（或器樂演奏）、非正統的結構和節奏，以及對商業願望的基本排斥。[4]
從搖滾樂誕生開始，搖滾樂就是帶有實驗性的音樂流派，但是直到1960年代後期多軌錄音進步後，搖滾音樂家才開始運用此技術創造更長、更複雜的作曲。在德國，音樂家融合了即興演奏、迷幻搖滾、電子音樂、前衛音樂和當代古典音樂等音樂元素，創造出了「酸菜搖滾」。1970年代後期，隨着朋克搖滾、新浪潮、DIY音樂和實驗音樂的發展，出現了一場重要的音樂雜交。放克、爵士搖滾和融合爵士樂也融入進了實驗搖滾。
1980年代初期的實驗搖滾樂隊所創作的音樂幾乎沒有可直接參考的先例。80年代末，實驗搖滾開始追求一種迷幻美學，與後朋克所追求的自省性和警惕性形成差別。在1990年代，後搖滾運動成為實驗搖滾的主流形式。到了2010年代，「實驗搖滾」已經被濫用。
