VUAA1是一種昆蟲嗅覺共受體激動劑型驅蟲劑[1][2]。由美國范德比爾特大學與比爾及梅琳達·蓋茨基金會部分資助下發現[3][4]。
VUAA1被認為是通過強力刺激昆蟲嗅覺受體來實現驅蟲效果,且效力約為避蚊胺的1000倍[5],並可能導致「開創一個強大的新驅蟲劑類型,用於消滅有害昆蟲、農業害蟲和病媒等的破壞行為」[6]。
VUAA1還展示出刺激蚊子精子活力的特性,從而表明蚊子的嗅覺和繁殖之間的聯繫[7]。
